I’m Amanda!

Hi there, I’m Amanda. I am a local artist and I love playing with yard debris!

As an artist, my passion is creating opportunities for people to pause together and witness Nature's stories and cycles so that we may (re)connect with the Earth, Ourselves and Each Other.

The plants I collect show us Nature’s beauty, processes, death and rebirth. They remind us that life is forever changing, that structure and pruning are essential for healthy growth, and that releasing the old gives way for the new.

I got into drying flowers and leaves from our yard in late 2018. My friends and neighbors soon began donating their “left-overs” to my collection and I really got to start experimenting! A couple of clothes lines on the back patio eventually led to a botanical design studio in our garage. I went from making small wreaths to creating gigantic botanical sculptures and installations...all made with yard debris and leftovers from celebrations.

I find that there so much beauty and story to be shared with botanicals that are considered to be “past their prime” or “just weeds.”

I like a challenge when it comes to drying flowers. As a “Botanical Taxidermist,” I get excited about trying new ways of hanging or laying or pressing things. It’s all trial and error for me, and I love to watch what the stems do in different conditions. Once we slow down and start watching things with different eyes, we notice all sorts of things that have been right here all the time.
