04.01.2020 Day 11
Today was rainy and cold. The Chicks were left more often to keep themselves and each other warm.
I wonder if they are thinking about anything?
Or are they distracted by what must be some amazing growing pains as their thousands of feathers shoot out through their tender skin? Their eyes can open now, but their little heads don’t stick up out of the nest much to see anything - just each other.
When they have their heads together, I wonder if they’re chatting about things. If you watch closely, you can see them opening their tiny mouths. Do they make a sound our human ears can’t hear? I love thinking of them as two 11-year-old siblings stuck in a nest together - just like all of us. After they chat for a while, one will flip over and face the other direction. Sometimes we just need a little space, eh?
Frances left them to hold down the fort by themselves quite a bit today. When she did sit on them, the stretchy nest squirmed beneath her like a pregnant belly. Pretty soon, she’ll only stay with them at night.
